June 23, 2009 - Intel and Nokia have partnered up to go beyond the status quo to a new demention of computing. The two technology companies have plans to revoltuionze the mobile computing industry "to define a new mobile plstform beyond today's smartphones, notebooks and netbooks."
Nokia and Intel have annouced they well be developing for the Moblin and Maerno platforms. No plans were announced for Symbian, which is enjoys a 50% portion of the smart phone market.
Both are Linux-based platforms: Moblin is supported by Intel and Maemo is used by Nokia in its Internet Tablets such as N810 (the only modern touch-screen devices that Nokia made until it finally launched its touch-screen 5800 Xpress Music phone in October 2008).
