Nokia, the world’s largest mobile makers have announced a contest for mobile application developers across three categories.

Eco-challenge – applications which help make the world a more environmentally friendl
Emerging markets - applications which help empower the people in developing countries

Technology showcase - applications which reflect the truly cutting edge mobile technologies

First place winners in each category will receive $35,000, a trip to Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona, and distribution of their application for free through a variety of Nokia channels.

The contest is open now and all entries are due by December 15, 2008. Finalists will be selected and notified in January 2009.
