STS-119: President Obama's Call to the Crew, Part I

President Barack Obama, along with some Washington middle school children and members of congress, chatted with the crew of the space shuttle Discovery this morning.

During the video conference call, the first thing the President said was how proud he was of their "extraordinary work."  Many of the children quizzed them on their life in and work in space.

Calling from the White House as the shuttle-station complex sailed 220 miles above the southern tip of South America, Obama chatted easily, relaying questions from school children and fellow law makers.
The Discovery is scheduled to undock from the space station Wednesday and head back to Earth, landing at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday.

Thanks for reading and recommending.  Funny that BBC covered it live, but not CNN.

Can you imagine the kids excitement - the President ... and Astronauts too?
