Hold on to your electric bill ... Barack Obama is at it again. I can not believe that these truthful revelations from Barack Obama may have some who voted early asking, CAN I HAVE MY VOTE BACK?

Imagine if John McCain had whispered somewhere that he was willing to bankrupt a major industry? Would this declaration not immediately be front page news? Well, Barack Obama actually flat out told the San Francisco Chronicle (SF Gate) that he was willing to see the coal industry go bankrupt in a January 17, 2008 interview. The result? Nothing. This audio interview has been hidden from the public...until now.

Here is the transcript of Obama's statement about bankrupting the coal industry (emphasis MY):

Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

What I've said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

The only thing I've said with respect to coal, I haven't been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.

It's just that it will bankrupt them.

A man without his teleprompter is a terrible thing to listen to - truthful, but terrible for American freedoms and business.

Are you living in a coal producing state? ... GOOD for you, because your state will be punished in a Barack Obama led economy and energy policy.

It should be noted:

NewsBusters' Tom Blumer has found out that the San Francisco Chronicle story published on January 18 based upon this January 17 audio interview did not include any mention of Obama's willingness to bankrupt the coal industry which you can hear on the audio. You can read the story here when you scroll down to the "In His Own Words" section.

Way to cover up for The One, SF Chronicle!

False story? Jed Report says so...

(Ohio's GOP Senator: McCain "Will Put Coal Out Of Business")
http://www.jedreport.com/2008/11/ohios-gop-senator-mccain-will.html

Might even be the pot calling the kettle black!

(C-SPAN: Text From the Congressional Record)

The McCain amendment will put coal out of business by forcing fuel switching to natural gas. This might even be why some organizations are pushing this amendment.

Seems McCain might have more in common with Obama than he realizes. That or he's trying to take his own shortcomings and foist them upon others?

Imagine if John McCain had whispered somewhere that he was willing to bankrupt a major industry?

Who needs an imagination? It's on the record, apparently... McCain would bankrupt the coal industry. {Only? Too?}

Regards,
~Michael

McCain did not specifically call for the bankrupting of an entire industry - BarackObama DID!

Marxism does not have malice, just the pain of social dictates and economic devastation.

Edmund Jenks, good story.  Coal is half the power industry.  Nothing can replace coal.

1st off the coal industry will never go out of business. half of the counties of WV can power the nation for the next 750 yrs. That's only half! Think about it what about the other half? That's just WV. now think about the other half. that's not including Pa Ohio, KY, VA, or the rest of the coal states. Right now there are coal fire power plants breaking ground and being built. FGAs are giong on every plant across the nation. this now is a bi product for drywall.
