Troubled http://www.uber.com was given 1 month reprieve recently by LA neighbour http://www.sharenow.com
This is a fairy story-like tale of one social networking site helping out another in times of need. The site had actually pretty much shut down and that was it. But then entrepreneur and all-round good guy, Nigel Robertson, co-founder of ShareNow.com, came to the rescue at the last minute and somehow worked out a way to keep the site functioning for at least another month.
There seems to be a commonly held belief that the way to give the site a greater chance of staying up for more than a month is to use it, upload files, blog etc i.e. to generally create what is today's web currency - traffic, UVs, hits. So if you are keen on uber, get blogging and uploading!
Thinking about it, a 'Top 10 Companies that Rescued other Companies Just About to Go Under' doesn't exactly trip off the tongue very easily but would make an interesting read.
