Oracle buys Sun! Is it the end of the free MySQL?
Is it the end of the free MySQL database. Oracle gets MySQL virtually free after it acquired Sun Microsystems for $7.4 billion. Oracle tried to buy MySQL in 2007 for $850 million.
MySQL, a favorite of Open Source fans, hobbyist and students was acquired by Sun for $1 billion dollars in 2008.
Big news today in tech is the acquisition of Sun Microsystems by Oracle. Sun, a tech powerhouse finally gets gobbled by another Silicon Valley gorilla, Oracle, who’s been on a buying spree of late.
Oracle buys Sun for $7.4 billion, making it a direct competitor to HP and IBM.
MySQL
What I’m wondering now is would this be the end of the free database wonder MySQL. In 2007, Oracle tried to buy MySQL for $850 million. MySQL was acquired by Sun in 2008 for $1 billion. With this acquisition, Oracle effectively got MySQL for free. Would this be the end of the free MySQL? That is the question.

@Babel-fish
Do you know what torrents are? The largest and most popular torrent site is thepiratesbay.org. Do you know anything about it? Do you know anything about pirating software in China? Just wondering how much you know about pirated software since you seem to project that you do know a lot about it.
