Pandora and Facebook Team Up to Bring You Facebook Music Stream
Earlier today at the F8 Developer Conference, it was announced that Pandora will team up with Facebook to bring users the new Facebook Music Stream.
“Using Facebook’s new Open Graph protocol, Pandora will stream music directly onto the social networker from bands that fans have "liked” using Facebook buttons placed on other web sites. Users can also see what kind of music their friends are ‘liking’ as well.”

Pandora founder, Tim Westergren admits Pandora has attempted to become more involved in social media for some time stating:
“The idea behind today's update is to make it really easy to share your Pandora stations and music discoveries with your friends - and vice versa.”

The merge takes effect today – you can easily experience this by linking Pandora to your friends on Facebook, and bringing your friend list into Pandora along with your Facebook profile picture.

I think this is huge! I work at a radio station and the DJs avoid even talking about their competitor. I prefer to know the competition and when I signed up for Pandora I did indeed have an instant social experience. My friends and older adult friends were already using it, made figuring it out and learning more about how to use it easy- very sneaky, very smart. No one seemed worried about privacy, after all they are my friends and they don't mind a friend knowing what music they like! WOW!

Yeah, it is interesting to see the music industry first adapting to file sharing and now social networking to spread the word about bands/products. You're right though, very sneaky.
Will anyone care though? Maybe. Maybe not. I guess we should all be accustomed to the lack of privacy provided by Facebook so kudos to Pandora for tapping into that.
The trick is now - if this takes off - is to figure out how this affects your radio station.

Or better yet, how can the radio station benefit from it.
