Pedobear Becomes an Olympic Mascot

A Polish newspaper has somehow included Pedobear as an Olympic mascot. Canadian artist Michael Barrick had created a graphic of Pedobear alongside the three Olympic mascots (Quatchi, Sumi and Miga, along with demi-mascot Mukmuk)as a joke last year, and Gazeta Olsztynska picked up the Pedobear-enhanced image to use in an article about the actual mascots, printing the image depicting Pedobear as an Olympic mascot.

Pedobear is a 4chan meme which gets added to a thread to say, "you're being creepy about underage girls/boys". Pedobear is often the subject of Photoshop alterations great and small.

Pedobear began life as Safety Bear on 2chan. He has since made the leap to 4chan, which is home to some seriously questionable material, due to the anonymity of its users. Though Pedobear is kind of goofy, is presence in a thread is serious.

Michael Barrick, though, was just having a bit of fun at VANOC's expense, since the Vancouver 2010 Games are costing his city a fortune. His creation has since taken on a much larger life.
