After teaming up with Google in 2010, Picnik will be shut down on April 19.

A popular photo editing website, Picnik will no longer be available as of April 19 when Google pulls the plug on the website. As Picnik has worked with Google for almost two years now, Google wants it all to themselves.

Why is Picnik Closing Down?

Google said it will use Picnik staffers to “continue creating photo-editing magic across Google products.”

Picnik members received an email this Saturday explaining that it will be moving on to more awesome things. It hinted that its photo editing features will be headed to Google+ .

If you have photos saved on Picnik, it has created a feature called Picnik Takeout, where you can download all of your edited photos to your computer. Photos can also be copied to Google+, where they can then be stored and shared.  Also, if you have purchased the Premium membership, Picnik will refund you your full $24.95, no matter how far you are into your membership.

From now until April 19 when the site closes, everyone has full access to all of the premium features, as a thank you to using Picnik. In its email, Picnik said “We have been incredibly proud of building a product that is used and beloved by so many of you. We continue to be amazed and humbled by the photos you create and we are immensely grateful for all of your support, creativity, and passion.”

You can visit the Picnik Blog for updates on its closing.
