Pizza Hut's iPhone application has reportedly generated $1m in sales since it was released three months ago. The Pizza Hut application, available on both the iPhone and the iPod touch has been a popular tool for users who want to order pizza on the go.

The popularity of the Pizza Hut iPhone application has been growing steadily over the past few months. There is immediate incentive for iPhone users who receive 20% off all orders made through the application's ordering function.

“We are extremely excited here about the explosive growth we’ve seen with our iPhone app since its launch 3 months ago—$1 million in sales is pretty substantial for an iPhone app,” said Bernard Acoca, senior director of digital marketing at Pizza Hut, Dallas, TX.

Pizza Hut claims they are the first national pizza chain to have ordering capabilities as part of an iPhone or iPod touch application. While Pizza Hat has a WAP enabled mobile site that has been running for some time, the iPhone application has garnered the pizza chain huge sales boosts and a general increase in popularity.

The Pizza Hut application is currently featured in Apple's TV ad campaign as well as on iTunes' Lifestyle Category.
