'Plants vs. Zombies' iPhone App Earns $1 Million in 9 Days
Plants vs. Zombies has already sold 300,000 copies since its debut on the Apple App Store on February 16, earning over $1 million in nine days. Plants vs. Zombies is already an established hit on Mac and PC platforms.
PopCap, which developed Plants vs. Zombies, also created the Bejeweled 2 and the Zuma series. Entertainment Weekly's Popwatch describes Plants vs. Zombies as "wildly addictive and endlessly charming".
I don't know what this game cost to develop, but that's a very promising number for only nine days on the market; further proof that handheld gaming is an industry that's only beginning to reach its potential. I guess smartphone users really like zombie games. I wonder if there are plans to port this game to Android.
Originally debuting on the PC and Mac in spring 2009, Plants vs. Zombies is currently occupying the number-one position on the App Store sales charts in more than 20 countries worldwide.

Not at all surprising. This game and Angry Birds have pretty much replaced my social life this week. Well done Pop Cap. The game is excellent!
