Playstation Network Restored June 2 2011: Store Online
The Playstation Network Has Finally Been Restored June 2 2011
After going offline in April, the Playstation Network will be fully restored on June 2.
The network and store were shut down on April 21 after a massive security breach that saw the theft of data from more than 100 million accounts.
Sony took the network offline in an effort to find out what happened, then test all the new security features before putting it back up.
The network, which serves both the PlayStation console and Sony's Qriocity music and movie service, is also being fully restored in many Asian nations apart from Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan.
Limited gaming services were also switched on last in those nations as Sony worked to convince the authorities that it had conquered the security shortcomings. Sony gave no date for the full restoration of service in those countries.
Sony said it has now beefed up all its security systems and players can use credit cards and download anything with peace of mind that their data is being protected.
An apology package has reportedly been offered to gamers for the disruption.
