The frontrunner in the "who is buying PopCap" discussion was Bay Area Facebook behemoth Zynga.

Plants vs Zombies was originally a PC game (for Windows and Mac) before rocketing to dizzying levels of fame as an iPhone (and later iPad) game. Bejeweled began life as a browser-based Flash game in 2001.

PopCap Games is an offshoot of casual-gaming development house Pogo.
