Porn Virus Publishes Browsing History Online

A new type of Malware is affecting PCs, and it could potentially publicly embarrass those whose computers are infected. The Japanese trojan virus installs itself on computers through a popular file-share service called Winni, which is used by around 200 million people. The Virus is known as Kenzero.

Once the virus infects a machine, it captures the user's browsing history, then posts it on a website before demanding a ransom to have the information taken down.

Masquerading as a game installation screen, it requests the PC owner's personal details.

It then takes screengrabs of the user's web history and publishes it online in their name, before sending an e-mail or pop-up screen demanding a credit card payment of 1500 yen (£10) to "settle your violation of copyright law" and remove the webpage.

The site that publishes the private information is owned by a shell corporation called Romancing Inc., which is registered to a fake individual called Shoen Overns. This is a name authorities have seen before in association with other viruses.

The Kenzero virus affects people downloading illegal copies of Hentai games a pornographic type of anime. Already, over 5,500 people have admitted that they have been infected by the virus.

The virus then sends messages to the user saying that they owe a pre-determined fee of $400 dollars that will erase the history and settle things outside of the courtroom. If the user sends their credit card information in an attempt to pay the bill, the people responsible for the virus then sell that information.

Users can just ignore any pop-ups or messages demanding payment, and can have their computers scanned and cleaned of viruses. Authorities suggest users stop pirating software in order to avoid obtaining a virus.
