The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has opened HOSPITALAR 2008 – International Fair of Products, Equipment, Services and Technology for Hospitals, Laboratories, Pharmacies, Health Clinics and Medical Offices, which celebrates 15 years of dedication to the healthcare sector.

Lula accepted the invitation issued by HOSPITALAR, CNS - Brazilian Health Confederation, ABIMO – Brazilian Association of the Medical-Dental Industry, FENAESS - Brazilian Health Services Federation and SINDHOSP - Hospital Employers Association of the State of São Paulo. During the opening ceremony of the fair, Lula was accompanied by the Minister of Health, José Gomes Temporão, the State Governor of São Paulo, José Serra, and the City Mayor of São Paulo, Gilberto Kassab. President Lula presented details of the Productive Development Policy (PDP), which aims at the development and technological innovation of the healthcare industry in Brazil. For the founder and president of HOSPITALAR, Dr. Waleska Santos, the presence of the country’s highest level political authority in the celebration of the 15th edition of HOSPITALAR is a sign of recognition of the importance of this event not only for the healthcare sector but for the whole Brazilian society. “HOSPITALAR was created with the aim of improving the quality of services to the final user, who is the ultimate level of the healthcare chain. And we strongly believe we managed to achieve that goal during these 15 years of dedication to Brazilian health.”

HOSPITALAR’s 15th edition, which will be held from June 10th to 13th, has turned out a record edition in terms of number of exhibitors, occupied area and amount of products and services offered to the market. With the participation of 1,100 companies from 33 countries occupying an area around 75,000 square meters in Expo Center Norte exhibition halls, in São Paulo, HOSPITALAR 2008 has proved, once again, to be the most important event in America for information, updating and business in the healthcare sector. Held as a fair and forum, it combines the exhibition of the most modern products and services for medical and dentistry sectors with almost 50 gatherings on hospital management. HOSPITALAR 2008 is 20% larger, and it is expected to surpass the number of 76,000 professional visits from over 60 countries registered in 2007 in the last edition. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
