Sony finally announced the release date of PS3 Slim, an upgraded version of its Playstation 3, which was first released in 2006.
The PS3 Slim specifications, or specs, includes a blu-ray drive, a 120GB hard driva, a DualShock controller, and HDMI output with 1080p support - meaning it is high definition.
The price of the Playstation Slim will be slashed to $299, or €299. The release date is September 1, 2009.
The Slim is hitting stores the first week in September and will cost $299 (or for those who live in other regions, 299 euros or 29980 yen). Hirai says it has the same features and functions as the "old" PS3 but is 33 percent smaller, 36 percent lighter, and comes with a 120GB hard drive.

the old ps3 is seriously heavy, and was pretty expensive. i wish i waited a couple years =(
