Quad/Graphics, an American commerical printing company, is buying Montreal-based World Color Press.
World Color Press was formerly Quebecor World before filing for bankruptcy protection, re-emerging as World Color Press which, prints the dead-tree versions of Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated, and US Weekly.
The deal brings Quad/Graphics into the Canadian market, as well as into some Latin American markets, such as Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru.
The two companies did not announce the deal's value, but the transaction is expected to be worth between $1.3 billion and $1.4 billion, according to a source familiar with the deal.
