Qwitter catches Twitter quitters

Twitter, meet Qwitter, your other half. Twitter is your life in 140 characters or less, your way to tell the world what you are doing. Qwitter is the world’s way of telling you that sometimes people stop paying attention. Qwitter notifies Twitter users when someone “unfollows” them. And you don’t even need to remember a password, you sign-up and have e-mails sent to you with the notification. It even tells you the last thing you said, or the Twitter you posted before you got dropped. If you change your mind, you can turn it off and stop receiving the notifications, but it doesn’t work retroactively, so you don’t get to know who dumped you before you signed up. But most of all, it doesn’t tell you why. Like in life, sometimes simply knowing isn’t enough.

Sometimes you're just better off not knowing. Maybe one of those times is when someone unfollows you on the microblogging service Twitter, but now there's a service for the morbidly curious. It's called Qwitter, and it'll send you an email notification whenever your account loses a follower.

Qwitter doesn't need a password or a confirmation. Just put in your twitter name and your email address, and you're all set. You'll start getting messages when people unfollow you, including the latest tweet you'd posted before they pulled the plug. It doesn't work retroactively, so if you were hoping to figure out who's already unfollowed you, you'll still have to do that by hand. In case you have second thoughts about signing up for bad news, there's an unsubscribe link in each Qwitter email.

Twitter is a great tool for business. I will definitely be checking out Qwitter. I don't take it personally if someone stops following, but it might be a good indicator. Thanks for using my design! :)
