Red Robin… Yum!

The gourmet burger joint has expanded its brand by opening a faster, more casual restaurant known as Burger Works in the Northfield Stapleton retail complex in Denver, CO.

Red Robin’s Burger Works is meant to be a simpler version of the well-established chain in order to compete with fast-casual burger businesses like Smashburger and Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

“Burger Works was created to keep it simple. Basically, we’re burgers. The fresh, fire-grilled burgers you love about Red Robin and a few other menu all-stars,” says the Burger Works website.

The classic gourmet burgers such as the Whiskey River BBQ, 5 Alarm, Royal, and Banzai are found at Burger Works, as well as a few originals like the Tavern Double and Veggie Portabella Burger.

The option to build your own burger with unique Burger Works choices separates the newbie from the franchise.

Since Red Robin is primarily found in suburban locations, the simpler and smaller version of the big guy aims to be established in more urban spots.

CEO Steve Carley said, “We are basically unrepresented in urban environments.”

So far, the only Burger Works location is in the Northfield Stapleton shopping center, but more restaurants are expected to open soon.

The site states, “We are hitting the campuses of The Ohio State and Metro State of Denver. Spring 2012.”
