Reddit's r/jailbait Shut Down Due to Child Porn
Reddit.com/r/Jailbait Closed
Reddit has closed down /r/jailbait, a subreddit dedicated to posting sexualized photos of underage girls.
Jailbait's day-to-day content wasn't to blame for its shutdown, though: a few of the subreddit's subscribers were caught trading child-porn pics.
r/jailbait's moderator, the inauspiciously-named I_RAPE_PEOPLE, summarized the shutdown r/WTF: users were trading child porn on the side, possibly using Reddit's private-messaging system.
r/jailbait was a link repository: Reddit did not host any of the photos itself. Most of the pics were hosted on Imgur. (Imgur founder Alan Schaff is keeping quiet on the story so far.)
Reddit has long held a policy of not interfering with content posted on the site, so long as that content adheres to the site's guidelines. Those guidelines do not include sexualized photos of underage girls.
Meanwhile, the posting of underage girls on Reddit will continue, as there are at least a dozen similar subreddits that cover the same subject. The creep-factor was already all the way to 11; that actual child porn was being exchanged is not all that surprising.
And now, the Taiwanese-animation version of the /r/Jaibait shutdown story:
