Israel is smaller in size then the State of New Jersey in the USA and yet it is now second in the world in export of Hi-Tech and Industrial products.

Israel is the world's no. 2 high-tech and industrial exports manufacturer, second only to Ireland, a Bank of Israel report revealed Thursday.

The report, due to be published in April, reviews data pertaining to recent years up to 2006, and focuses on OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) members' manufacturing and exporting of high-tech services, traditional industry services and mixed services.

According to the report, Israel also maintained its global lead in electronics exports, although its forte remains in high-tech. industry experts ascribed the difference to the fact that the manufacturing of high-tech services requires more human capital, which it has in abundance.

Really?  I have never seen any high tech products from Israel.

Hi Barry,

I am not sure what specific products they refer to but I will check. They might include products that are part of other products such as the Intel chips produced here.

One company I am familiar with is RAD. So far in my career I have been using only RAD modems for internet connectivity.

But the company website does not say much about the Israel roots, may be because of obvious reasons :-).

I had to dig something up from Wiki to find that out.

Founders

The RAD Group was founded in 1984 by Zohar Zisapel and his brother Yehuda. Zohar is often called the "Bill Gates" of Israel (references: CNN Money article; Innovations Publishing article). Zohar had this to say about the main goals of the RAD Group: “The RAD Group’s decentralized approach maximizes the advantages inherent in smaller business units - such as flexibility and entrepreneurial spirit - while allowing member companies to share mutually beneficial developments and fostering innovations.”
