Though the promotional video from BAE Systems, with its Terminator-esque music and sublte insect noises, has a creepy cool thing going on, I don't think we're really that close to reliable remote technology. Since the SWORDS system failed, I don't think robo-bugs are coming to a theatre of operations near you in the immediate future. Still, though, the idea is compelling.
The Army just gave BAE Systems a $38 million contract to head up a consortium of researchers into the next-gen mini-drones.
