Roman Empire and American Right

The fall of the Roman Empire has been blamed by Christian theologians  on "decadence" and "sin." In fact there was one sin that caused the fall of the Roman Empire, and it is the same sin as one that is responsible for all major failures in history.

That sin is stupidity. 

In 20AD, a Roman inventor Hero of Alexandria invented the steam engine. The Romans thought that it was uneconomical, as the slave labor was cheap and abundant enough for them. It was of course the institution of slavery, in which lived three quarters of the population, that was the true ongoing source of hate and resentment, not only against Roman Empire, but also against "the world." And by making this boneheaded decision, not only did Romans deny themselves the benefit of scientific and technological progress that could have given them everything from skyscrapers to computers to cars to military machines that would have made mincemeat of any invading army, but they also ensured that the hate against the Roman Empire grew as slavery remained the basis of Roman economy and the condition of the bulk of its population. 

Of course the same scoundrels and idiots who caused this grand failure did everything that they could to blame this failure on everything and everyone other than themselves. They blamed it on women, they blamed it on "human nature," they blamed it on "decadence," they blamed it on "paganism" when Roman Empire was conquered two hundred years after it had Christianized its population. But no: None of this was the true cause of the failure of Rome. The true cause of the failure of Rome was short-sightedness and stupidity. The last of which has always been the true reason for every failure in history of humankind. 

Right now we are seeing the same people who have caused the present planetary catastrophe blaming the problem on everyone other than themselves. They blame it on liberals, they blame it on feminists, they blame it on Armageddon, they blame it on New World Order conspiracy theories, they blame it on "humanity" or on "sinners" (meaning of course everyone who does not tow the party line that tells people such things). Then they ridiculously claim to be practitioners of responsibility. In fact, the scientists and the liberals have been telling for 30 years what was going on and what it was going to lead to. The people who are responsible for this catastrophe are the people who did not listen to reason and especially those who have lied, and continue to lie, to claim either that nothing is happening or that what is happening is other than what it is or caused by other things than what it is caused by. And now, these people say that what is happening is Armageddon, or a punishment for the sins of humanity - the "sins" being ones of not collaborating with them when they are the true culprit for this disaster.

The people who are into the New World Order nonsense are of course the same people who three decades earlier were shouting such things as "money talks, bulls**t walks" and "America: love it or leave it." And now they are all getting paranoid about Jewish bankers and international corporations and the Chinese and people in the government who are not their puppets. So let me get this straight. You destroy environment, you destroy academia, you destroy education, you destroy media, you destroy unions, you destroy government, you destroy humanitarianism, you destroy literature and arts and social activism, you destroy every culture that isn't your own, you leave as the only thing in town the money game, and now you are screaming bloody murder because you've been bested even at your own money game by people whom you wanted to wipe off the face of the earth? And now - what, the world is evil? Well bucko, you've had a huge role in making the world as it is now, and if you don't like it then you have only yourselves to blame. 

The fact is, the world would be a lot better now if right-wingers had nothing to do with it. The world would by now be running on cheap, abundant clean energy and water gained through processes that destroy nothing that can't be replaced and put out into environment nothing harmful. The American treasury would be solvent and in shape to handle crises as they arise. The people would be much more educated, much more knowledgeable, and thus much more intelligent and responsible citizens less likely to listen to conmen. By now there would be real effective cures for diseases that are currently incurable and whose present treatments  are dangerous and harmful. The areas that are now barren desert would support forests to absorb CO2 and farmland to feed people all over the world. Violence against women and children would be a thing of the past, as would overpopulation and genocide. There would be convenient, non-polluting public transportation that would cut commute times by over two thirds and save people the experience of breathing exhaust fumes for three hours a day Cultural masterpieces, beautiful architecture, inventions, scientific learning, would abound and enrich people's existence. People would be terraforming Mars and Venus to reduce population burden on the Earth and give people new places to go. Instead, the politics and economics of the First World got hijacked in 1980s and then again in 2000s by boneheads, and we are now living with predictable and inevitable results. 

The religious are right about one thing: Sin is behind the current state of affairs. But it is not the sin that they claim. The sin of conmanship; the sin of aggressive ignorance; the sin of  short- sightedness and stupidity; and the sin of misrepresenting effects and causes of things, are reason for troubles of these times. The scientists knew what was coming, and the liberal influence in America were telling people what was going to happen. And it was the right- wingers that not only kept people from seeing the truth, but are working hard to keep people from seeing the truth even now. 

It is time that the right wing be seen for what it is, what it has done, and what it is doing to the world and to America. And it is time that it lose all credibility and all power that it has gained through fraud and corruption and used and continues to use for terrible wrongdoing. The political force that wants an end of the world in our lifetime and is working hard to bring about an end of the world in our lifetime is a deadly danger to everyone who is alive or is yet to live. Of all the major political groups in the world, only Taliban compares as a threat to the survival and well-being of humanity.
