It seems that every year before Christmas time the popularity of the automatic vucume cleaner, Roomba, surges. The Roomba is the small electric circle that can sense dirt on a floor, travel over to it, and pick it up. The Roomba gained worldwide popularity 4 years ago when it was released to the public and has been a popular gift ever since.

Marshall Brain describes the gives credit for the cleaning robots popularity to the ability for the robot to change the relationships among family members. It provides a more relaxed atmosphere because instead of having to worry aout clean up after yourself and other, you can simply enjoy your time further.

An example. Today at the dollar store one of the kids bought a little six-shooter confetti gun. You know the little confetti poppers you see at parties (like these). They've managed to fit six of these in a little plastic revolver, and it costs a dollar. So of course, if you are a kid, the thing to do when you get home is shoot it off. And now the floor is covered with confetti.
