A guitarist from the Scottish band Runrig is in hospital after collapsing in a train station after returning from a gig on the Black Isle north of Inverness .

Malcolm Jones is seriously ill in hospital after the instident at the Waverley rail station in Edinburgh.

The band's tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland has been cancelled.

A statement on the band's official website said: "We regret to announce that guitarist Malcolm Jones has been taken ill and as a result we have been forced to cancel the forthcoming tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

"We are deeply sorry for the short notice and obvious inconvenience that this will cause. Ticket holders should contact their vendor for refunds.

"We will give you more information as soon as possible. However, in the meantime we are sure you will join us in wishing Malcolm a speedy recovery."
