Saks will close all Club Libby Lu stores

Saks will close all their Club Libby Lu stores by May of next year. Saks Inc. acquired the specialty tween store back in 2003. There are 93 stores across the nation, and 1700 employees will lose their job. Saks Incorporated will now focus 100% on their core store Saks Fifth Avenue.
Saks Inc. said Wednesday it plans to shut down its Club Libby Lu specialty store business to focus on its core luxury brand Saks Fifth Avenue.
The Company expects all 93 Libby Lu locations to be closed by May.
The Company acquired Club Libby Lu in 2003 primarily as a growth vehicle and traffic driver for its Saks Department Store Group ("SDSG") business, which has since been sold. The Company currently operates 78 Club Libby Lu stand-alone stores in malls nationwide and 20 Club Libby Lu store-in-stores within former SDSG stores.
Steve Sadove, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Saks Incorporated, noted, "Club Libby Lu is an innovative concept that was a better strategic fit with our traditional department store business. Discontinuing the operations of Club Libby Lu is the appropriate decision so that we can focus 100% of our time and resources on executing the strategies of our core Saks Fifth Avenue business.
Saks Incorporated operates Saks Fifth Avenue, which consists of 53 Saks Fifth Avenue stores, 49 Saks Off 5th stores, and saks.com.

Club Libby Lu offers products and experiences that promote a unique shopping experience that makes every girl feel special. I took my grandaughters Stephanie and Mackenizie to Libby Lu as a part of their Christmas Gift. This is Stephanie getting the royal treatment at Libby Lu in Natick, MA.

my name is Haley and when i went to the hamilton place mall one for my ninth b-day with two of my closest friend i loved it also my friends did it was so fun and my godness its just kids whats the deal with kids just wanting to have fun they want to be kids so let them- now how many girls did'nt truly love it?

im am verry upset this is happening, this store is so amazing and i dont think its right for them to close it that suckssssssss, lil girls are gonna be verry upset at this!!!

I LOVE LIBBY LUS, THE EMPLOYEES ARE FANTASTIC AND THE GIRLS HAD SO MUCH FUN THERE! I HAVE TAKEN GIRLS FROM THE AGE OF 3-12 THERE AND THEY HAD A BLAST AND FELT LIKE "PRINCESSES"... TAKING LIBBY LUS AWAY IS PROBABLY THE STUPIDEST THING SOMEONE COULD DO!

My daughters (4 and 7) have also loved Libby Lu's since the beginning! I can't believe they would actually close these stores. It teaches girls soooo much about self-esteem. My girls have had b-day parties and all in those stores from Maryland to California. I mean everywhere we've moved, we had to make sure there was a Libby Lu's around to shop in. My 7 year old is heart broken about the close of these stores. I hope Sak's realizes the HUGE mistake they've made and reopens these stores or at least open others similar to Libby Lu's. I too agree it is the dumbest thing they could've done!
