Word got around that Greenfield gave talks on investing in real estate and soon the discussions veered to bishop Dowd.

Darcey Greenfield of the Los Angeles Police Department has got involved in a real estate scam in which FBI and the police department are trying to find out if she herself cheated or she has been cheated. What complicates matters is that she had implicated many of her colleagues in this off-time business of hers dealing with investment in real estate.

Greenfield claims that a realtor had approached her on behalf of septuagenarian bishop named Leroy Dowd (Triumph Church of God, Los Angeles) who wanted to become current on dues relating to the church, a mortuary and other properties. The religious angle appealed to Greenfield and her own clients.
