Sheboygan, Wisconsin Police Scanner Makes for Awesome Tweets

Some of our favorite Twitter accounts are spambots (@horse_ebooks). Some spout utter nonsense (@JoseCanseco). Others, though, are just playing it straight. For example, check out the Twitter account set up for the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Police Dept's scanner.

Sheboygan Scanner is not operated by the police: some as-yet-unknown Twitter user (anonymous until the book deal, we presume) keeps an ear on the Sheboygan police scanner and transcribes the weirdest stuff he or she hears. Many of these scanner items involve raccoons.

So far, we haven't seen any tweets regarding Sheboygan Mayor Bob Ryan, but we did learn about some of the things Sheboygan's Finest must respond to:

• Car crash: car vs turkey
• Car crash: car vs deer
• Fox has seizure, dies; witnessed by police officer
• Dog traps woman in car
• White male in hoodie "acting kind of odd"
• Raccoon biting people; cops specifically told not to shoot it in the head
  

... and perhaps our favorite: "v - cows were loose, are contained now".

Actually, many of the @sheboyganscan tweets would make good opening scenes for Fringe episodes.
