Skype Down: Problems Confirmed by Skype Official Blog

Google trends, the Twitterverse, and tech blogs were all abuzz with talk of skype being down today. The official Skype blog was updated earlier confirming the outage issue.
We're having some problems with our sign in server, so you may not be able to sign in to the Skype application or to your account as normal.
[2009/01/21@1746UTC] If you're already signed in to the Skype application on your computer or mobile phone, you should be able to call/IM/etc as normal. This is only affecting people who aren't already signed in.
The blog also commented on the heavy traffic their site was garnering from people trying to get answers; the post directed people to the company's Twitter page for updates.
Sometime around 4 p.m. EST a tweet was sent out saying that all issues are resolved and everything should be working properly.

Skype should be more involved with facebook and twitter users to bring on the next level. perhaps adding an app for facebook users ?
