Smart Phone Breathalyzer
With breathalyzers getting popular with all individuals to ensure safe driving, the ways to use it and access it at ease are also being developed. One such innovation is the smart phone personal breathalyzer which enables the individuals to use the equipment along with their smart phones. These equipments are designed to fit with smart phones and the Blood Alcohol Concentration from the breath sample is measured and displayed on the screen of the smart phone. Smart phone breathalyzers are easy to carry and handle and have lot other features bundled into them. The BAC level is measured on the Android, iPhone or iPod and the smart phone breathalyzers are based on rechargeable lithium ion battery. These breathalyzers are based on two sensors namely fuel cell technology and air pressure sensors to ensure accurate and reliable results. The fuel cell technology is similar to that used in the breathalyzers for law enforcement by police stations.
Smart phone breathalyzers also have the feature of tracking the person’s concentration of alcohol content in the blood throughout the night. This enables the user to keep a check on his level of intoxication thereby ensuring safety and pleasure through the night. This further helps the individual to understand his body metabolism on how it reacts to consumption of alcohol. The smart phone breathalyzers also have the provision of tracking the nearby restaurants and taxis. Thus, if one finds himself highly intoxicated, he could easily order a taxi and reach home safe. Further the smart phone breathalyzers also indicate when the equipment should calibrated to ensure accuracy. Calibration involves blowing a breath sample of known Blood Alcohol Content into the sensor and then adjusting the results on the screen to display the known BAC level. This process should be carried out at regular intervals to ensure that the breathalyzers are giving us accurate and reliable results. Now with smart phone breathalyzers, the users would know when such calibration should be done.
The user now also has the option of saving the BAC levels measured from his breath sample to his smart phones. The recorded readings could be read through whenever there is a need. However if the user is not comfortable with saving such records, the option could always be turned off on the smart phone breathalyzer. The breathalyzers fitted to the smart phones work on rechargeable lithium ion battery. The battery should be charged at regular intervals to ensure the working of smart phone breathalyzer. However with even a conservative estimate, the lithium ion battery could stand up to 150 tests with one time charging. The smart phone breathalyzers could now be used for multiple nights comfortably without recharging even if it is to be used by more than one individual. Similar to all the mobile phones, the smart phone breathalyzer will also send out an indication when the lithium ion battery is low and needs charging. With all loaded features, smart phone breathalyzers like keychain breathalyzers are getting popular among individuals because of their easy to carry and quick to handle nature.
