SmithBarney.com, a division of Citigroup Global Capital Markets Inc., crashed on Thursday during one of the busiest trading weeks ever. Customers were told to use something called a tele-phone to make transactions when their Smith Barney logins didn't work.

During the down time, SmithBarney.com had this to say:

404

It was unclear why the site was down on Thursday, as stock markets heaved for a fourth-straight day in response to the crisis in the financial sector.

Smith Barney appears to be up again, but having a crash like that during this turbulent time is definitely not going to ease their clients' fears.
