As Vegas gears up for BlogWorld, the sports action is coming to the fore. This year, some of the industry's biggest names will be speaking on the subject, imparting wisdom to blogging veterans and n00bs alike.

Witnessing a rapid rise in popularity, the sports blogosphere created an entirely new channel for writers, professional athletes and the everyday sports fan to communicate. From Michael Phelps' historic performance and the questionable ages of the Chinese gymnasts to the implications of Tom Brady's season-ending injury and the possibility of a post season without the Yankees, there's no shortage of controversy and content for today's sports bloggers and audience.

Sports coverage is getting bigger in the User-Generated Content sphere, though quality material can be tough to find between the "live spreaming" splogs and the screen-barf of MSM sites.
