Steorn Free Energy announcement tomorrow?
I've been following the Steorn story since it's inception. The company claimed in August, 2006 to have discovered a means of creating free energy, and issued a challenge to the scientific community with a full page ad in The Economist. After selecting qualified applicants, a testing and validation phase was apparently initiated. Steorn announced a demonstration of their device, called 'Orbo' last year at at Kinetica Museum in London, which was to be simulcast on the web. The demonstration did not go well, the device never became functional. An official explanation pointed to damaged bearings. The device itself is based on the utilization of magnetic fields.
At a talk given at the Dublin Institute of Technology on 18 December 2008, Steorn announced that they were intending to start commercialisation of their technology in February 2009 by asking 300 engineers and engineering organisations to replicate it. Additionally, Steorn also announced that they would provide independent validations of their technology as well as touring many Universities in USA, Europe and The Middle East.
As of today, Steorn's website has changed to a picture of a lit curtain with the caption
'4 February 2009.'
Stay tuned?

I have heard of this before but I have not heard of this being tested to prove it will produce energy.

The validation phase results have not to date been released, I think they said something about the end of 2009. However, their focus now seems to be having 300 independent testers try to replicate their technology with a working device. The Steorn business model is licensing, not producing devices. Until a device appears it's logical to be very skeptical but it's still one of the more interesting stories in the 'free energy' scene.

Looks like the website has been updated, with a video and some links, etc. and a way to get updates. Been following this from the beginning also.
