Steve Jobs Makes the Cover of TIME for 8th Time
Steve Jobs will be featured on the cover of TIME Magazine's upcoming issue. This is the Apple co-founder's eighth appearance on the cover of TIME. Upon notice of Steve Jobs' death, TIME literally stopped the presses to feature the man behind the iPad.
- Steve Jobs Dead: Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, Bill Gates Reactions
- Steve Jobs Stanford Commencement Speech
Steve Jobs also made the cover of TIME in:
- February 1982
- August 1997
- October 1999
- January 2002
- October 2005
- April 2007 (as part of a collage)
- April 2010
The Steve Jobs cover, which you can see below, features the young entrepreneur holding an Apple Macintosh, so daring at the time with its all-in-one design. (Are there any photos out there of Steve Jobs with an Apple ii?)
The original photo was taken by Norman Seeff in 1984; the version used for the Steve Jobs obituary issue has been 'shopped to remove the background. Seeff describes the unusual photo session below:
I was beginning to build a level of intimacy with him, and then he rushed off, and came back in and plopped down in that pose. He spontaneously sat down with a Macintosh in his lap. I got the shot the first time. We did do a few more shots later on, and he even did a few yoga poses—he lifted his leg and put it over his shoulder—and I just thought we were two guys hanging out, chatting away, and enjoying the relationship. It wasn’t like there was a conceptualization here—this was completely off the cuff, spontaneity that we never thought would become a magazine image.
