Swiss Jetson takes to the skies by Teacher Dude

Yves Rossy has come up with what might be the ultimate gadget, the jet you can strap on your back. The 43 year old ex- fighter pilot invited press this week to see him unveil the James Bond style jet wing in Bex, Switzerland. After a five minute flight which started with a free fall jump from a plane the Swiss daredevil and inventor then parachuted safely to earth.

The 55kg device, which uses a mix of kerosene and turbine oil is capable of reaching 300kph and can fly for up to 10 minutes. The controls are limited to a throttle and altimeter as the machine is controlled by the pilot's body movements.

Rossy or Fusion Man as he calls himself is now set to fly the English Channel this Autumn.
