TIME Supreme Court Poll: 4chan Strikes Again
TIME Magazine posted an online poll asking users which criteria are most important in a Supreme Court nominee: career, religion, gender or race. Time.com did not take 4chan into account, which is strange, since 4chan users have punked TIME in the past, shoving 4chan founder moot to the top of the Most Influential People list.
- AT&T Blocks 4Chan.org, Prepares Will
- 4Chan Members Declare "Porn Day", Attack YouTube
- moot Named 'World's Most Influential Person'
This is an obviously loaded poll, existing only for viewers to select the sole valid criteria: career... because only a jerk would choose one of the other choices, agreed?
Loaded Poll Questions Pwned
Well, 4chan users called BS by hacking the poll, choosing "race" in every state they could.. except for Washington, Idaho and South Carolina, where "gender" rules the day. If you check out the Time.com poll, you'll see a USA map totally dominated by people who chose "race".
This story was brought to our attention by reddit, and a quick search through 4chan posts showed that, indeed, this was a concerted effort. A word of warning to the uninitiated: "a quick search" through 4chan can have severe and lasting effects on your brain. Avoid /b/. Seriously.
Though they choose seemingly random targets, 4chan users are remarkably quick to organize and affect events beyond their own message board.
