Time Top 50 Websites of 2009: Full List of Winners
Time Magazine has announce its Top 50 Websites of the year for 2009. The 2009 list of winners contains some old favorites, some questionable choices, and some hidden gems. While some of the properties selected by Time for its Top 50 Websites of 2009 have been around for awhile (Google? Facebook?? YouTube???), others seem to be choices made based only on pop culture buzz (Twitter - with its omnipresent "Fail Whale," Netflix - the Web 2.0 answer to video rental), while some are truly interesting (Academic Earth, Wolfram|Alpha, Get High Now).

Do you mean Wikipedia? It's number 25.

Not a very satisfying list this year. Skype is an application- its functionality doesn't happen in a browser. Also, while Metacritic is awesome, TelevisionWithoutPity got totally shafted yet again. Meanwhile, Flickr has made some modest improvements, but not nearly as many as SideStep.
Also, yeah, Twitter gets loads of press, but the real Twitter development is done by third-party sties and apps.
As for Hulu, I dunno... nobody outside the US can even see their content without pulling sneaky proxy moves. Delicious and Metafilter? Yawn.

I see I didn't make it this year. When am I gonna get some love LOL. I agree with Jordan, some of these picks should not be on the list.
