Must admit the benchmarks are pretty interesting - especially for we mere mortals who see so many people leave our site in the first 30seconds - the benchmark 600+ seconds is something to aspire to.

This item is clearly spam - it appears to have a completely commercial purpose, and violates NowPublic's Code of Conduct. Members who consistently post spam risk having their accounts blocked.

I no longer consider this item spam. But your first few lines gave me this confusion, regds

This is not spam, it is a report on a survey - it has no commercial value to me, is attributed etc
Please also note I was one of the authors of "what is spam" back in the early days, so clearly know what it is!!
Please explain YOUR reasons.

On first glance, it does look exactly like 30+ other spam articles that come in. Also the highlight just shows 'top ten retailers' so judging from the post alone it's difficult to tell if the post was legit or not. Anyway the flag is removed so all is well!

No not all is well. The intro para was a legitimate comment on the contents of the report. There was no way any of it could have been even remotely construed as spam.
This post has not been edited so others can also judge.
Lets see Sanjay's editor status revoked as he obviously does not have the skills required.

matte, I like this story. It's good stuff. The benchmarks are very interesting.
And I have no clue why they spammed you - that sucks.

Office Depot? Right on for them for taking the time and spending the money to execute an effective online operation. Most retailers are pretty weak in this market right now, but are quickly beginning to see the vision.
Sanjay Jha did say the first few lines confused him and also apologized for the mistake.
We all make mistakes (except me) and learn from them. Besides spam sucks and since it usually comes in floods, sometimes a quick scan as opposed to a full read is what it takes to keep up.
As for my own opinion, I think what caused the mistake was the "leave our site" because at first glance, it appears to look like we're getting a benchmark score for his site that's awesome as opposed to so many other sites.

the main message of the report and hence the post commentary is to highlight the incredible conversion rates of some sites. This is balanced by some fairly ordinary statistics that we, the average site owners experience on our own sites.
The report is published monthly and provides an insight into how to improve sites by visiting those that make the top 10 to see what they do

I do agree that this is useful news to many people.

Just shows how unqualified Sanjay is then, if he cannot go to the original story - something that is REQUIRED to make any form of asessment
