Toyota Recall: Toyota Recalls Vehicles Due to Sticky Gas Pedal
Toyota has issued a recall today for 2.3 million vehicles due to a sticky gas pedal; this is separate from the other Toyota recall for 4.2 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles in which the pedals could become stuck under a floormat.
This new recall is to correct a problem that could cause the gas pedal to stick without the presence of a floor mat.
"Our investigation indicates that there is a possibility that certain accelerator pedal mechanisms may, in rare instances, mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position," Toyota USA group vice president Irv Miller said in a statement.
The problem is one that will develop gradually and the pedal may become harder to press and slower to return.
Owners will be told when a remedy is made available but they can continue to drive their cars in the meantime. Toyota is saying that drivers should not pump the brakes but if a pedal does become stuck, then drive to the nearest safe location, stop and call your local Toyota Dealer.
The vehicles covered under the recall are:
2009-2010 Toyota Rav4, Corolla, Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2008-2010 Camry, 2010 Highlander, 20078-2010 Tundra and 2008-2010 Sequoia..
The Camry Hybrid is not included in the recall.
You can call Toyota's customer service line at 800-331-4331 for further assistance.

“TOYOTA” The manufacturing sacrificial sacrifice. Complaints of deaths due to sudden acceleration in Toyota cars, like the Audi that went 0-60MPH at a turn of a key that involved death and injury, I don’t recall any apologies from Audi. Recalls aren’t new take a look: wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/saf-sec-sur/7/vrdb-bdrv/search/search.aspx?lang=e Ford 1419 recalls, Chrysler 309 recalls, Cadillac’s alone 190 recalls Toyota 139 recalls; and them with out sin cast the first stone. Domestic(?) auto makers now push to produce everywhere but north America, Toyota and Honda with plants in US and Canada are turning more domestic then Ford, Chrysler or GM who just opened a new line in Asia. "Domestic" means production that takes place within the country's borders (Wikipedia). twitter.com/economicblowGoTeamCanadaGo@Canada.com
