The suspected trojan horse proxy.ahiy that's detected by AVG antivirus scan is a false alarm, according to AVG support.
AVG detects an item it classifies as:
Trojan Horse Proxy .AHIY C:\Program files\Google/Google Toolbar user.exe
...which is the Google toolbar extension for Internet Explorer. According to AVG support staff, the error will be corrected in the next AVG Definitions update.

I am glad I searched the internet for this virus alarm, because I don't think I should have to pay for another update when mine is good till 2010. It would be nice if you would post these alarms on AVG instead of just the internet. Gwen Niccum 501-724-4235

I have got this today as well but AVG says there is two infections but it can not get rid of it as my file is full already. It said 5962 files had been infected. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Need to clear this ASAP as I have work to do.

The trojans keep multiplying every time I try to get rid of the them. Is this a threat or what is going on? I don't understand. My google toolbar has also disappeared. Any help is appreciated.

*whew!* Do you know the level of panic when I logged my work computer in today and saw that? And then I couldn't move the files to the virus vault or try to heal it. Oh well, at least I've now downloaded the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool to back up my AVG

Yes - Rather a shock to find virus' that will not go into virus vault. Despite Updating both AVG and Microsoft - then restarting and rescanning could not lose the virus notice. So Uninstalled Google Toolbar and rescanned - and Hey presto - All gone - what a relief.

I received the warning this morning after opening IE. Double threat. Google toolbar. I uninstalled the google toolbar and searched for virus name. Found this thread. The PC did an automatic update and shut down last night, so I had to log in this morning. Just info.

Thanks, my CEO got this warning today and his Windows 7 machine started freezing left and right. We got the latest update just now, hopefully that'll take the definition out.

I came across this. did my best to deal with it, but now get a DNS server error on both Firefox and IE. ( So can't access the internet ! Are the false alarm and the DNS error related ?

Got the same problem than Eugene M. Got a dns error as well and consequently can not connect to the internet anymore...

How to remove?
at 04:41 on September 10th, 2009
In panic to get rid of this thing I managed to delete both the infected files and the Google search bar.Spoke to AVG and then they emailed the toolbar software to me via another computer. Reinstalled the toolbar and then updated AVG (though I don't think the update to actually cure this is out yet?). This has got me back on the net, but I'll have to keep an eye out for this "thing" again until the updated definitions are definately out !

So sad it was Google file that was identified as Trojan Horse Proxy.ahiy. I almost uninstall it luckily I was able to read the truth about it. www.im-infected.com/trojan/trojan-horse-proxy-ahiy.html

Congrats AVG -- one more reason why we're evaluating a more efficient, stable product.
