Twitter Now Has Terms of Service

No longer the Deadwood of the Internet, Twitter now has a complete Terms of Service section.

Enforcement will be admittedly difficult, but any action on a site can be tracked by that site's administrators, if they're motivated enough.

Twitter's been flapping along with the sparsest of Terms of Service for quite some time now. No more: On Wednesday, Twitter support team lead Crystal posted a list of rules of the road.

Most of these are pretty straightforward, though I can't think of a circumstance in which someone would give you express authorizaton to tweet their credit card details. Twitter's new rules also outlaw name-squatting (sorry, fake Shaqs) and the creation of serial/ or sock-puppet accounts.

*Impersonation: You may not impersonate others through the Twitter service in a manner that does or is intended to mislead, confuse, or deceive others

*Privacy: You may not publish or post other people's private and confidential information, such as credit card numbers, street address or Social Security/National Identity numbers, without their express authorization and permission.

*Violence and Threats: You may not publish or post direct, specific threats of violence against others.

*Copyright: We will respond to clear and complete notices of alleged copyright infringement. Our copyright procedures are set forth in the Terms of Service.
