United Airlines' check-in system went down early this morning at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD). Thousands of passengers were stranded ahead of the Fourth of July long weekend.
The breakdown lasted from about 3 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. local time, said Robin Urbanski, a United spokeswoman. O’Hare is the world’s second-busiest airport for passenger traffic.
Flights were delayed or canceled, because passengers are unable to get to the departure gates. If you're flying out of O'Hare via United, check in online and print your boarding pass before leaving home, because the concourse will be extremely hectic.
Other airlines appeared to be unaffected.
