UPS Looking to Hire 25,000 People as Drivers: Must Pass Virtual Training

Over the next five years, UPS is looking to hire 25,000 new drivers, but according to HULIQ, every year about 30 percent of applicants fail the driving test, so UPS has developed a new way to train drivers - virtual training.

The average wage of a UPS driver in the United States in $74,000 so there is enough incentive to train hard and get a career as a driver. There are about 99,000 UPS drivers employed in the United States at this time.

People wanting to train for UPS will spend a week at Integrad outside Washington DC and training involves playing video games giving the trainee the simulation that they are driving one of the UPS trucks. One of the training exercises has the 'driver' deliver five packages in 19 minutes. Another exercise has the trainee carry a 10-pound-box on a slippery surface wearing only light shoes.

Trainees are expected to always be smart in appearance as well, as they are expected to generate leads for sales.

It is not as simple as one week of training and you are hired, but interested applicants can go to the UPS Careers page and look in to what it takes to work for the company.

The driving job at UPS offers job security as well as a decent paycheck. UPS will expand its virtual training to Chicago, where a new Intergrad in summer.

Why not give it a try?
