On July 1st 2009, Ursula Burns became the first African American women to become a CEO of a Fortune 500 Company, from being a mechanical engineer summer intern in 1980, then moving on to become senior vice president of corporate stategic services in 2000, then seven years later was elected to the company's Board of Directors.
