What's the value of a Wall Street C.E.O now in this economy crisis. Could they get away with tax payers money to compensate them to stay in their top position or would they perhaps bail out too? The pay is not exactly like it was before the economy crisis; by stock bonds, out of porpotion end of year bonuses, millions in salary package. The Wall Street C.E.Os had direct influence on how the economy is today and it doesn't help to retain them in Wall Street but they provide expertise and that is the commodity that's got the issue of paying them large amounts to mend the current situation.

Wall Street often portrays itself as a pay-for-performance meritocracy. The rules are supposed to be simple: Make money, and you get rich. Lose it, and you get fired.

“What has caused the most outrage is the difference between pay and actual performance,” said Lucian Bebchuk, the director of the program on corporate governance at Harvard Law School. Mr. Bebchuk says he doesn’t prescribe limiting compensation; he’s fine with outsize pay as long as it matches outsize performance.
