Vancouver Start-up Index - February 2008

For the record, I don't put too much faith in these metrics but it's kind of fun to watch the Brownian motion in action:
The index ranks Vancouver-area start-ups based on an average of Alexa and Compete traffic rankings. Criteria and other details are available on the Start-up Index page.Project Opus (Mixx Maker), EQO (Vibrator), and Kinzin (These Are My Kids) have seen ranking increases after launching Facebook applications recently. Bryghtâs ranking has fallen, likely a reflection of their acquisition by Raincity Studios. Writing community Protagonize has made an impressive 8 spot jump to #12.

Protagonize looks really interesting - I hadn't heard of it before.
One other thought: do we really need more Facebook apps? there should be an FB widget to keep track of all them!
It's like a Real Clear Politics Average for tech companies. It's awesome. I must add that they have indexes for Portland, Alberta and Toronto as well. A not of interest, Now Public would kick most of these company's, err, butts based on this index's methodology. Good for us!
