Verizon Backs Down on $2 Online Payment Fee

Verizon took notice when everyone freaked out over the plan to charge its customers for paying their bills.

In a statement to CNN that didn't mention the FCC investigation that the new fee would prompt, Verizon said that it values listening to its customers. However, for some reason the telecom was unable to predict such outrage.

What reaction, exactly, was Verizon expecting?

Meanwhile, Verizon has had three data outages in December 2011 alone, along with numerous slowdowns.
