Verizon Droid Ad Likens iPhone to Carrie Prejean
In Verizon Wireless' latest ad campaign for the Droid, running on Google's Android platform, the iPhone is likened to Carrie Prejean. Well that's not exactly true, they didn't pull a blow quite that low but they did isinuate the iPhone was a "tiara-wearing, digitally-clueless, beauty pageant queen."
With a tagline like "a phone that trades hairdo for can-do," Verizon is trying to turn the iPhone's strength: good design into it's weakness. But I have to admit, from my experience with iPhones, they're fairly durable. I'd even go so far as to say an iPhone could survive Naomi Campbell.
So when Verizon asks, "should a phone be pretty?" I think they are forgetting the current generation. Millenials live for the frivolous, who needs function when you've got form and flash?
They should've stuck with their yule tide trash ad featuring the Island of Misfit Toys, it's a lot more witty.
