Verizon Droid Launch, $99 iPhone 3GS Rumor

Verizon's Droid phones, powered by the Google Android mobile OS, launch today: the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid Eris. Droid sales are drawing crowds to Verizon stores around the US as gadget fiends want to be the first to try out the shiny new toys (I say this with a tinge of jealousy). In Boston, customers in search of the new Verizon phones actually queued out in the cold, waiting for the Verizon store to open. What is this, an Apple product launch?
The two analysts, David Perrone and Matt McCarthy, said they will use their Droids to access both personal and work e-mail services and to take advantage of the device's broad array of multimedia functions. Both said the ability to multitask, such as playing music while reading e-mail, is a clear advantage that Droid has over the iPhone.
... For now. Even as the Droid basks in the limelight,
We can't be sure of the success of the $99 8GB iPhone 3G sold alongside the newer 3GS models ever since this summer, but if the $99 8GB iPhone 3GS rumor turns out to be true, then the Verizon Motorola Droid is in for some stiff competition this holiday season.

Should the IPhone really come down in price then I truly doubt that this new Verizon has a chance any longer.
Unless of course their cell plan is amazingly cheep.
