Volkswagen's Polo is one of the most efficient cars one the market and despite being 'green' it's still one of the most popular among it's range. But now Germans revealed the most powerful and yet, economical, Polo GTI.

Hatchbacks are great fun. And Polo isn't an exception. The new GTI will be available as 2 and four door version with improved looks. Changed front and rear bumpers but the most imported – now it will have the GTI badge.

Powered by 1.4 litre supercharged TSI engine it will be able to reach the top speed of 142 mph and that's only in just under 7 seconds. And that's close to Golf territory.

But despite being fast, Polo will remain economical. It will do 47 mpg on combined cycle and the CO2 emissions will be as low as 139 g/km.

Fitted with Golf's 17 inch wheels, the Polo GTI will come to UK this summer and prices are due to be announced.
